Match Overview: Brisbane Heat

Our two favourite teams came head to head last Tuesday, with the Heat pulling off a win against the Stars to secure their spot in the semi-finals.

But it wasn’t all smooth sailing. Coming down to a dramatic 1 run/1 ball/1 wicket, Heat fell to the Renegades on Friday in one of the season’s most intense final overs.

Heat V Stars (17/01)

  • Final Score: Stars (7/138) lost by 7 wickets to Heat (3/139).
  • Standout Player: Bowler Mark Steketee got the Heat off to a roaring start, taking 2 wickets in 2 balls in the first over of the match.

Heat V Renegades (20/01)

  • Final Score: Heat (All Out/198) lost by 1 run to the Renegades (5/199).
  • Standout Player: Renegades openers Finch and Harris delivered an outstanding partnership and were largely to thank for their massive win. Heat’s McCullum gave us hope in the first 5 overs before we slowed down and lost some crucial wickets.

Melbourne Stars

The Stars missed out on a win this week, losing to both the Heat and the Sixers despite an impressive performance in both games.

They’ve managed to hold on to their place in the semis, keeping supporters hopeful for their next match.

Stars V Heat (17/01)

  • Final Score: Stars (7/138) lost by 7 wickets to Heat (3/139).
  • Standout Player: Stars veteran Luke Wright and Seb Gotch impressed the crowd with an exciting 55 run stand.

Stars V Sixers (21/01)

  • Final Score: Stars (8/156) lost by 3 wickets to Sixers (7/160).
  • Standout Player: Wright opened with an impressive innings, making a half-century for the second match in a row when he made a total of 62, including 6 fours and a six.
