What is Climate Controlled Storage?
Climate controlled storage can take a couple of forms. Firstly it can be controlled through fully ducted air conditioning, allowing for a consistent temperature and may or may not be humidity controlled. Temperature and humidity controlled storage is specific to wine storage and would also suit the storage of valuable artworks. Humidity control reduces the amount of moisture in the air without completely drying out the air, thereby inhibiting mould. When storing wine, this means that the bottles and labels do not get mouldy, which is very important for serious collectors of premium wine.
Climate controlled storage may be temperature controlled, but not have humidity control. This form of climate controlled storage would suit the storage of pharmaceuticals as they are pre-packaged in blister packs and bottles and are not subject to condensation. We have found that this form of storage is particularly attractive to pharmaceutical companies as their sales representatives have access to secure, climate controlled storage as and when they need it and they can have deliveries of their products made directly into their storage units. A third form of climate controlled storage is provided through air reticulation where fresh air is pumped into the area continuously, creating the feeling of a cooler environment. In cooler climates, cold air can be pumped out of the area, thereby creating a more balanced environment. In some locations, this form of climate controlled storage will be suitable for the storage of wine, as there is a high degree of reticulation thereby ensuring the quality of air and the inhibition of condensation.
